Originally hand-painted for Liberty in 1978, Faye was inspired by the humble undergrowth and resilient plants that thrive along gravel paths and garden edges. Redrawn with tiny dashes of flat colour, its swirling leaves and simplified, ditsy blooms create a sense of tranquil movement. Set against richly hued backgrounds, pops of budding vegetation appear like glistening stars strewn across the fabric. This print is part of the third chapter in this collection, Painted Garden, which explores the vibrant fusion of colour, pattern, and texture discovered in the process of studying artists who took inspiration from their own cultivated garden landscape – capturing the complex relationship between nature and creativity.
